Homeassistant.app and presence

Hi All,

My Home Assistant App iOS is working perfect. But have one question.
When I leave my home (zone) it will send the street and status in HA will goto not_home.

But when the App sends a new street location HA will send register again a not_home.

Will this impact automations that use home and not_home as condition?
Or will this automation always fire every time?

iam using bluetooth with monitor because my vpn on my iphone isnot always running and things linke nmap/wlan isnt working good enough because our iphones cut off wlan all the time.

All my presenve automation is just simple

  • my mqtt broker runs on my OS not inside a docker HA addon!
  • if no one is home - send a retain maessage over mqtt that will disable automation a;b;c
  • if someone is home - send a retain maessage over mqtt that will enable automation a;b;c

This way even when a duplicated leaving home/ entering home is registered it doesnt harm anything. And when i am restarting HA it also doesnt trigger anything it shouldnt.

Now test it :slight_smile: My house is 65m2 and put the RPi in middle of the house. So basically the beacon must see the phones all the time when im at home.

bluetooth even on a std. rpi3 works really good

In fact to minimize false positives (anybody in the garden not in the house) i had to mount two old decklids from old 3.5" HDDs between my rpi3 (in the shed) and my house (~20 meters away from the house).because the signal is very strong.

In the House i mounted a usb bluetooth dongle inside of an CD shelf connected to my main HA Server with an 5 meter cable. That one covers everything inside the house (older building less steel no drywalls just bricks) and the garden in front of the House.

I’ve paired all the family phones with both devices. (monitor.sh -c macadress) but before i paired them i changed the bluetooth device to their places.

Thanks. I only have a apartment. And in middle where electricity and gas comes in the house I placed my RPI stuff.

Have also only brick walles. Rest of the rooms are around this closet.

Only thing what will help me is buy a Bluetooth dongle and cable, to place it far away of those RPi stuff and SSD stuff…

I now see sometimes away signals bit still in the house… Can be interference…

Max length is 8-10 meter away from the Bluetooth so, it must be capable to get the signal.
