Homeassistant as Docker on Unraid and Matter also as Docker - Cannot pair Meta device

Hello,

I have bought my first Meta device - a Nuki Smart Lock.

I am running Homeassistant on Unraid (Ethernet Only) since a long time.
I have also installed Matter as Docker on Unraid and have connected it as a Matter Hub in Home Assistant.

The Nuki is also connected to my Wifi (Unifi).

But I cannot pair it.

I have done some research and notified that IPv6 might be required, which I havent used so far.
I have enabled IPv6 on Unraid as well as on my Unifi Network, but I can still not connect the Nuki Lock via Matter to Homeassistant.

Any suggestions on troubleshooting/testing?

Best Regards,
Johannes

I think you mean “Matter device”, not “Meta device”?

Also, Nuki locks only support Matter over Thread, not Matter over WiFi, so without a Thread border router (+ additional hardware) you’re not going to get this to work as you expect.

If you have another Thread border router in your network, like an Apple HomePod, you could pair the Nuki with that, then request a new Matter pairing code and use that to pair it with Home Assistant.

FWIW, I haven’t been able to get my Nuki (4th gen) to work with a Thread border router running inside Docker (even though I can get other Thread devices to work with it, so it’s not an issue with my Docker setup), only with my HomePod (it could be that this is because the lock was initially paired with the HomePod and it somehow “prefers” it now, even though I have removed the existing Matter connection from the Nuki app and inside Apple Home).

Ok, then it is clear, why it is not working.

Thanks for clarification!
