HomeAssistant Nest Thermostat Guardrails

I have a Nest Theromostat inour guest house and want to set guardrails on how low and high the thermostat can go for both heat and cool. Many guests lower it way down to the point it could freeze so looking to allow them to change it but cant go below say 68 for ac and mayy 72 for heat. Is there a way I can do this in Home Assistant so it is not noticable to the guest but the rails are in place?

In the thermostat setup config you can specify these limits. This is done using the thermostat or NEST application.

Commenting here because it’s relevant to my question: can the Neat thermostat be locked by a HA action? I suspect not as there is no reference to it in the integration docs, but it would be nice.

No. But you could implement an automation that reverts any manual changes.

I could, yes… it’s just an inelegant way to go about it.
