I’m new to home assistant and created an installation on the container manager on my Synology NAS due to this manual (Alternative - Home Assistant). Everything is set up as described and worked fine, but I’m not able to reach the GUI under my IP from the Synology and the 8123 Port. Browser: Safari on Mac. Firewall on Synology is disabled
First: exposing the real LOCAL/LAN IP address of any device on your HOME network is not a problem/security issue since it’s isolated from the internet.
Many people use that 192.168.1.x range on their home network.
I have never used a Synology and am not familiar with the way you install apps on it but I doubt that HA has the same IP as your NAS.
You have to find out the right IP address from your HA.
Check your modem/router webUI to see if you can figure out which IP address has been assigned to HA.
Another option can be to try with http://homeasstant.local:8123 if that works.
Thanks for your feedback. I already checked it on my router, there is no additional device or IP. Also, in the documentation is the following written: Your Home Assistant within Docker should now run and will serve the web interface from port 8123 on your Docker host (this will be your Synology NAS IP address - for example http://192.168.1.10:8123)
I just checked the settings. There is an option to set the port, what I did now. but still not reachable. Under “IP address” there is a 172.x address, which I can not change.
