Homeassistant not reachable under http://192.168.1.x:8123

Hi

I’m new to home assistant and created an installation on the container manager on my Synology NAS due to this manual (Alternative - Home Assistant). Everything is set up as described and worked fine, but I’m not able to reach the GUI under my IP from the Synology and the 8123 Port. Browser: Safari on Mac. Firewall on Synology is disabled

Any ideas?

Thanks & best Regards,
Stefan

Hi Stefan, welcome to the forum!

First: exposing the real LOCAL/LAN IP address of any device on your HOME network is not a problem/security issue since it’s isolated from the internet.
Many people use that 192.168.1.x range on their home network.

I have never used a Synology and am not familiar with the way you install apps on it but I doubt that HA has the same IP as your NAS.
You have to find out the right IP address from your HA.

Check your modem/router webUI to see if you can figure out which IP address has been assigned to HA.
Another option can be to try with http://homeasstant.local:8123 if that works.

Hi

Thanks for your feedback. I already checked it on my router, there is no additional device or IP. Also, in the documentation is the following written: Your Home Assistant within Docker should now run and will serve the web interface from port 8123 on your Docker host (this will be your Synology NAS IP address - for example http://192.168.1.10:8123)

Any other ideas?

Best Regards,
Stefan

Yeah, I’ve read that too now…

Is that the range you are using?
Can you ping the address from your Synolygy and do you get a reply?

EDIT: what about http://homeasstant.local:8123

Yes, also able to logon to the synlogy NAS GUI. There I can see the home assistant container which is successfully running.

http://homeasstant.local:8123 is also not reachable

What do you get when you visit the the IP + port preceded by http://

“Safari is not able to open the page” (translated from German)

Can you try another browser/device?

Are you sure you have the container setup correctly for network in Synology? Normally it should be the same as the NAS but can be changed.

Hi

I just checked the settings. There is an option to set the port, what I did now. but still not reachable. Under “IP address” there is a 172.x address, which I can not change.

Best Regards,
Stefan

And here the IP-Settings.

Works now. I’ve deleted everything and created it manually with “docker compose” (Alternative - Home Assistant)
