Homeassistant OS cannot complete onboarding on Raspberry PI4 B

When I try to onboard Home Assistant, I get servera errors. The first one reads:

23-04-04 10:59:08 WARNING (SyncWorker_0) [supervisor.host.sound] Can’t update PulseAudio data: Failed to connect to pulseaudio server

I updated the DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.8.8. No luck. Can someone help me understand what I am missing?

BTW, new install on a new raspberry PI 4 B with 8g and 64g SD card. I used Raspberry PI Imager to load the SD card. I’ve tried about 1o times with no luck.

Here is more of the errors I’m getting:

[supervisor.utils.whoami] Can’t fetch Whoami data: Cannot connect to host services.home-assistant.io:443 ssl:default [Try again]

I got the same error about updating PulseAudio just yesterday while onboarding on a Raspi4 for a friend.

Reflashed the card and everything went fine on the second attempt.

also consistently getting that error:

[supervisor.host.sound] Can’t update PulseAudio data: Failed to connect to pulseaudio server

tried rebooting pi, different sd, reflashing SD with both pi app and balenaetcher. best I could get was a run with just that warning and no errors that successfully completed. so far things seem to be working?
