HomeKit Bluetooth + Nanoleaf Remote Not Working

Hi there!

Was super excited to see the new HomeKit BLE support in 2022.8, and I’m hoping to finally ditch using my iPad as a flaky hub for my Nanoleaf Remote, but so far I haven’t gotten it working directly in HA.

It seems to pair successfully at first, and the remote flashes as if it’s paired to a new device, but the integrations page usually shows this error:

And some logs from home-assistant.log: Home Assistant Nanoleaf Remote Setup Fail.py · GitHub (apologies if this is not specific enough, happy to obtain more)

Fingers crossed I’ll be able to make this work! Thanks for all the amazing updates

Please open a github issue with logs. Thanks

I’m seeing this same issue. Anyone have any luck getting the Nanoleaf remote to function with the new BT integration?

Over on github, this should be fixed in 2022.11

It’s now pairing properly, but HA only sees one button when I’m trying to build event automations. Looks like it needs a little more help to function right.

Any news on this? Or someone was able to integrate the nanoleaf remote into home assistant in any way?

Would love to control other things too in my smart home with the remote.
And also it would be nice to finally use the nanoleaf shapes as thread border router. Because at the moment the remote would be completely useless if I’d activate these on my shapes.

Thanks for any hint on this.

I think at this stage, either a post in the feature requests forum to get all the events (twist, change orientation, etc) available via the homekit controller, or perhaps a bug filed on github (this may not be a bug, it’s just unimplemented.) is the best way to go.

I’m curious to see if anyone has tried to pair the Nanoleaf Remote via ESPHome BT Proxy. I’m trying to and it does not work correctly.

I can’t get the nanoleaf remote connected correctly either way (directly to raspberry pi 4 running home assistant OS or via esphome Bluetooth proxy). :frowning:
