So…I had this all working and it stopped the other day. I had been messing with my appleid and assumed that was related. I’ve started all over again…but still can’t get it working.
So…I have my AppleTV acting as a Home Hub.
I added the HASS bridge integration. I scanned the QR code on a phone logged into the same icloud account as the AppleTV. I add my interesting devices (garage doors) and they show up happily in the Home app. Now I turn off wifi (or go to an external wifi) and the devices show up as “No response”. If I turn wifi back on…it show’s the correct state.
I’m using “turn off wifi” to simulate being away from home. The Home Hub on my Apple TV is supposed to pick up there, right? Interestingly…I can control the AppleTV from within the Home app (with wifi off) but the Garage doors (bridged thru HomeAssistant) show “No response” at the same time.
Ideas?
Sorry to post on an old thread, but I’m also struggling with HomeKit being unavailable when I’m away from home. I only use it for Siri, and I don’t have any other HomeKit devices. Everything is on Home Assistant. I don’t have an Apple TV or any other Apple hub, so maybe that’s my problem? I have “HomeKit Bridge” and “HomeKit Device” integrations. Is that not enough to connect remotely?
Sometimes I can’t open my garage door via Siri when I’m away from home, so I’m looking for the cheapest way to fix that problem.
You need an apple TV or HomePod speaker. Only those devices have a direct connection to the cloud servers from Apple and can expose entities when you’re away from home @ndbroadbent
