I had 3 Nanoleaf Essentials A19 bulbs for some time now and just added them to Home Assistant using the Homekit Controller integration. Things are working pretty smooth so far, I use them in some automations with scripts and scenes and I plan to acquire at least 3 more of these bulbs as I’m pretty pleased with them.
The thing is that as of this morning, I’ve noticed a firmware update available for these bulbs in the Nanoleaf app, but I’m unable to update them now. This wasn’t an issue before adding them to HA through the Homekit Controller integration.
I know that a workaround to this issue would be to unpair and pair them once again, but to do this every time an update is available it would be a nightmare, considering the fact that pairing Homekit devices is not as simple as it is for other devices and especially if we’re talking about more than one, 6 or more in my case, at some point at least.
So making it possible to update this devices through HA would be a great option to have, a big time saver as well.
Agreed and me too. I have the essentials down lights. I thought I read somewhere though that nanoleaf was one of the few that supported some kind of ipv6 auto update or something. Might have to check. I’m just adding a bunch more because these bulbs are great but I guess will have to pair them twice.
One of my Nanoleaf bulbs just reached its end and I’ve replaced it with a new one, the same model but with Matter capabilities. This one can be updated from Home Assistant, it’s a better option… has more options. I’ll be replacing all of them with the Matter ones. It seems that the Thread model is outdated, not available on the market anymore and update support was discontinued.
I have the exact same problem with Leviton switch that are homekit.
They can be upgrade when paired with a certified homekit hub, but not when using the homekit controller integration in home assistant.
Is there plan to be able to update the devices, like it would be possible if they where on a “regular” homekit hub?
