HomeKit Cover Strange Behavior

I just bought an iBlinds Z-Wave motor. I had to use this hack to get the Open/Close state to update, but that is working in HA now. My issue is with HomeKit: the main device interface always shows closed and will not control the device. However, when you click the gear to configure the device, that little slider works fine:

Anyone able to shed some light on what is going on here?

I think the first slider is for pulling the blinds up and down.
The slider inside the gear window is for tilt of the slats of the blind.
