Homekit integration vs non-homekit integration for ecobee

How does the homekit integration differ from the non-homekit integration for ecobee.

Does the homekit only utilize local network and not require external access. Seems that am missing some sensor data with the homekit integration where when I use the other method I get weather and all the sensor data I am looking for.

I have two Ecobee 4s integrated with HA. I use both integrations. The homekit integration is indeed local and should work without internet. I haven’t tested it in a while though. I’ve also found the homekit sensors provide a faster response than the non-hk integration. I use the non-hk integration as you said: for the weather and other sensors that don’t need to be instantaneous. I think there were instructions in the forum about how to install both integrations simultaneously. It was pretty easy.

Thanks that was what I was wondering. Guess I’ll get both integrations going. Wish homekit would just update to provide all the sensor data. homekit does seem to work better for me cause anytime I need to restart or reboot HA i have to delete and re-add the ecobee integration…
