Homekit/libavahi

Hi,

I installed Home Assistant on Raspberrypi 3B+ from image. This means I have never accessed the Raspberrypi itself. This means I have only been working within Home Assistant. Now I want to install HomeKit in HA and it is recommended that I download an additional package using:

$ sudo apt-get install libavahi-compat-libdnssd-dev

How do I go about doing that?

Thanks for your help.

Have you installed hassio or hassbian?

It is hassio

The instructions you are reading are not for hassio, which is a completely different operating system, and does not allow installation from apt.

I suggest you change the category of this post to HASSIO (the All-In-One installer was deprecated months ago) and see if you get any help on how to run homekit there.

Ok - I will do that. In which way deprecated?

The All-in-one installation method is no longer updated. It may not even work. It was largely replaced by hassio.

I see. But using the image is still OK?

The all-in-one installer did not use an image, it was a script to install HA on raspbian. It has nothing to do with hassio.

OK - thank you. Didn’t know that.
