Homekit via Internet

Anybody try to run Homekit via LTE (network) or another internet network instead of local wifi (lan)?
How configure homebridge for use world wide?

There’s no need for configuration. If homebridge is working on your local LAN, all you need is an iPad, ATV4 or a HomePod on premises to be able to use Homekit remotely from your phone.

I’m confused by [kirichkov]'s response. I’m using both the Homekit and Homekit Controller integrations, and both work as expected when I’m on my WiFi, but not remotely. Is this possible? I have an iPad I could use as a hub. However, I’ve specifically removed it as a hub and replaced it with HA due to the direction Homekit integration with my Ecobee (it’s motion sensors respond much more quickly via Homekit vs the standard Ecobee integration).
