Homematic: Improve handling of lost connections

Hi all,

I use homeassistant together with the homematic component. I have been tricked several times now by a broken connection to the CCU. I had the broken connection detection built in, but it didn’t work so well with my device.

In search of a solution, I came across other fellow sufferers (Homematic detecting lost connections), who also kindly offer an alternative solution.

But even that is somehow still not the real thing. It probably shouldn’t be that each of us reinvents it again.

In general, I have a nice detection of “unavailable” devices running on my end. It’s only for HA pairing that it doesn’t work well. Why actually not?

I don’t know the Homeassistant internals that well, unfortunately. But shouldn’t it be that some device (e.g. homeassistant.ccu2) go into “unavailable” state, signaling an unreachable CCU.

Or should all Homematic devices go to “unavailable” if the CCU cannot transmit the status? Would also be plausible, because from HA’s point of view all this is unreachable.

How do other bridge couplings do it? Are there any good examples to follow?
