I’m trying to migrate/move from HS4 to HA and an having trouble getting HA to recognize my Homeseer Z-WAVE dimmers and switches. HS4 just didn’t provide the WOW factor I was expecting from a major release, and I find the user interface to be slow and non-intuitive.
I have around 40 Homeseer dimmers and switches in my existing HS4 deployment. A mix of HS-WD100, HS-WD200+, HS-WD300+, and some simple SWITCHs (binary on/off).
I plan to exclude and then include each device and then recreate my automations just to keep things simple. I’m starting with a single HS-WD200+. I added it to my new HA system. It supports S2 and it was successfully “added”, but HA has no idea what it is. It just just says Node 10 and has no idea what Manufacturer or Model it is. It also has no idea what any of the parameters are.
Shouldn’t HA recognize it or do I need to add some definitions for each of these Homeseer devices before I add them? I have a lot of door sensors and motion sensors as well. Hoping these don’t have the same problem.
I’m new to HA, so it could just be me, but I’d appreciate any pointers on how to easily integrate Homeseer hardware into HA.
Also not interested in continuing to run HS4 as a Z-WAVE front-end to HA. I was hoping to just settle in on HA and natively let it manage all my Homeseer devices.
As you may have noticed there’s multiple way sto do things. In this case there are (more than) two ways to integrate Zwave to HA. Did you use the Zwave JS integration or are you using the ZwaveJS_UI? (It matters from an instructions perspective)
Also, we will need to know -
What Zwave coordinator stick are you using?
What firmware revision is on that stick?
How is your stick connected to the host running HA? straight into the USB port? Extension cord? USB hub?
Sounds like the device didn’t interview correctly. First instruction will be to re-interview the deevice, but because there are a number of possible methods, we need to know what you’re using to point you in the right direction.
As a fellow HS4 refugee, I assure you you will really appreciate HA, esp since all the Google Home and Alexa integrations (esp with nabu casa service) just work.
You should also check out the various blueprints for all those zwave switches, as they add significant amounts of functionality beyond just the core zwave functions. Without this you will have a hard time doing the same things in automations you did in HS, which had excellent zwave support.
I just got a znet and imported my entire collection on it, created some switches and named every single one. That was just for usability. ZWAVE JS UI found the info quickly. I just renamed locations and then redid my automations. I only have about 13 zwave devices right now but got it all done in an hour.
