Greetings,
I’m really new to this home automation stuff, so please be nice.
I am using the Honeywell Total Connect Comfort (US) integration. I have a fan over my vent that I’d like to turn ON when the system begins actively cooling the zone. I tried setting up an automation to trigger when the system turns to “cool” however I think this is referring to the setting (heating or cooling), not the currently running/active mode.
My current workaround is to trigger the switch to turn the fan on at a certain time, which works, but it’s far from efficient as it will run regardless if the air is running or not.
Is anyone familiar enough with the Honeywell system to know if what I want to do is achievable?
It looks like the thermostat is showing cooling vs idle, but I have no idea how to access or create automations around those variables, once I find them. Any pointers?
OK I figured it out. What I needed for my trigger was a state change on “Current action” to “Cooling” or “Idle” then turn the fan on/off. Thanks for the assistance.
It must depend on the thermostat. On mine, I have to trigger on the state of the hvac_action attribute. I don’t see an attribute called “current action.”
I also have a fan_action attribute. I was thinking that might be a better one to trigger a booster fan from, but I haven’t really looked into that yet.
