Edit 20/5: So yesterday I had problems with the Honeywell Lyric integration. Just like you, I suddenly got an error message. After some puzzling, I couldn't figure out the problem, so I removed the Honeywell Lyric integration from HA and posted this message here.
In the afternoon, I saw that HA had recognized a HomeKit device. It was the Honeywell thermostat. I subsequently added it, and everything is working again as before. If I understood correctly, it now works locally and no internet connection is required anymore.
I have been getting a certificate error since yesterday:
Lyric
Failed setup, will retry: Cannot connect to host api.honeywell.com:443 ssl:True [SSLCertVerificationError: (1, '[SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed: certificate has expired (_ssl.c:1081)')]
Gemini says the Honeywell developers need to refresh the certificate. I am on chat via my Residio app right now with an agent trying to get that accomplished.
not sure if this is the same error but noticed the issue this morning, when I try to re add the honeywell Lyric, I get "Error while obtaining access token."
A common occurrence. You'd think a large corporation like Honeywell would appoint a 'certificate guardian' to ensure this embarrassing situation didn't occur again. Don't worry, other big players like Cisco, Microsoft and Apple have these issues from time to time as well.
Sometimes those guardians are let go as part of corporate 'right-sizing' and their role is not taken up by others. This reflects poorly on Human Resources as their job description and functionality is not accurate at time of departure.
Layoffs blamed on the rise of Artificial Intelligence will exacerbate this in the future until certificate expiry rules become identified as a critical role in the corporate intelligence borg. They will then be automated, their role never questioned as to why they are needed any more.
Check the expiry date of the new certificate. The app developer can then set a diary note to check when the problem is expected to happen next as the bigger the corporation, the slower the wheels grind.
