Honeywell Redlink thermostats

Long story short, the previous owner of my home made some interesting decisions maintaining and configuring the heating system. I’m getting a new one installed, but because of the way the ducting is configured, I’m getting one system for the main floor and basement and a second smaller system for the upper floor. (AC and heat on both systems.)

I ordered two Honeywell TH6 thermostats with zwave. But today the installer told me that the existing wires likely won’t work, and is recommending Honeywell Redlink.

I’m pushing back a little on the need for wireless. While there was a very interesting home brewed panel where the three thermostats came down (there had been three zones, we’re combining the main floor and the small addition that had previously been a second zone) surely the wires that were originally run are still in place and can be used. We’re going to look at that in the morning.

But, is the Redlink a good option with HA? I very much want to avoid third party access portals. Is there a specific Redlink model that supports zwave, or another brand of wireless thermostats that would be a better fit?

Thanks.

Yes, I’ve read that thread. It’s why I ordered the T6 in the first place. However, it doesn’t identify which thermostats specifically have a wireless connection between the wall unit and the heater.
