Honeywell Thermostat Failure emails with no aparent failure

I’ve got a Honewell WiFi thermostat (RTH6500WF) that has been working perfectly fine with HA for months.

Over the past few days, every time HA changes the thermostat setpoint I get an e-mail about 15 min later from [email protected] stating:

CHANGE FAILURE NOTIFICATION
Alert: Your attempt to change the thermostat {thermostat name} failed

However the thermostat has not failed, it’s set to the temperature that HA told it to, and HA is still receiving updates from the thermostat, i.e. current temperature, cooling on or off, and target temperature. This is really just an annoyance at this point since everything is still working. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this issue?

I’ve re-started HA, removed thermostat and re-installed it (only way I could think to restart thermostat) but I’m still getting the e-mails.

I’m running HA version 0.71 and have been on this version long before I started getting these e-mails.

Hi,
I would like to corroborate these findings. I have been receiving similar email alerts, and I found today that I am also having issues adjusting the thermostat via the native Honeywell methods. I’ve tried the Android app, the iOS app, and the website, all are a no-go.

I’ve only just learned that I am not the only one on stumbling upon this thread, here is my current configuration:

climate:
  platform: honeywell
  username: !secret climate_login
  password: !secret climate_secret
  region: us
  scan_interval: 600

I’m going to attempt setting the scan interval to 900 and see if that helps. It would really suck if they’ve rate limited us any further than they already have. I like granularity!

Honeywell: just give us a freggin local API please!!

Same thing. Seems to coincide with latest app update (the one with the orange TCC icon).

Additionally, I know it falls outside of spec, but I’ve had my scan_interval set at 150 since I set HA up, like 6months ago with no issues. It seems like they are now enforcing their 5 min update interval, and the HA logs tell me that I am being rate limited.

I switched my scan_interval back to 600, but I’m still getting the e-mails, along with alerts in the TC app every time I open it stating the following:

Thermostat Alert
The thermostat did not acknowlege the changes submitted at MM/DD/YYY HH:MM:SS.
Check your settings and resubmit. If you have received this alert before then you may have intermittent
communications issues with your system. For suggestions to resolve this alert check for an alert email,
check FAQs or call Honewell Customer Care at 1-855-733-5465.

I too have been experiencing this issue for the past two weeks. I receive the email with the failure, check the app and see and dismiss the error in the app; only to find my setting changes were accepted.

This new, undocumented feature is just a little annoying.

Hello

Did you ever get resolution to this issue. After installing new WiFi system I relinked the thermostat and then started getting these annoying messages even though the stat accepts the changes.

Recently this has gotten really bad for me. Since the outage they had last week I think, it has been happening.

Also, odd thing, the app and web page for honeywell seem to not follow the built in programming. I wonder if I need to check my date/time on the device.
