How complex will this setup be?

Hey there,

I’m running a HomeKit only setup which works most of the time. However, with recent 17 Update apple destroyed Automation Functionality - again. I’m wondering if running HA in a docker will ensure the same functionality but stable. Can you estimate if there are integrations that’ll work more or less out of the box? I’m afraid of loosing hours just to integrate Hue Bulbs etc. again. So if I can “reuse” my Thread Network and Hue Bridge that’d be great.

Device: for HA Integration
Hue Bridge → 30 Bulbs, 3 Motion Sensors
3 Eve Thermostats ->Thread/Matter → Apple TV4K, Apple HomePod 2nd
1 Eve Door Sensor → Thread/Matter
Eve Room → Thread/Matter
1 Eve Smartplug → Thread/Matter
Unifi Switch/AP and Controller Software → detect if I’m at home
Ubuntu Server 22.04 that could run the HA Docker beside Unifi Controller

Automations I guess this part will be easy and work
Tune down Thermostats when leaving home
Tune up Thermostats when coming back
Turn off Lights when Leaving home
Adapt Light Colour Temperature based on outside light

I’m running HA in a docker for over a year now and find it to be very stable.
most of the integrations and automations are straightforward too.

Sounds very good. Are you using Hue or Eve Thermo?

No, I’m using HA mainly for energy control (solar panels, charging EVs, etc…)
but also to control smartplugs (tuya based), doorbell, cameras, security system, notifications …
my home is not very automated (yet), but I keep adding stuff tho
