How do I lock a user to a specific dashboard?

The YAML visible option did not work for me… seems very straight forward, so not sure where I would’ve gotten mixed up.

What would really be nice is some way to configure a dashboard for the kids without exposing backend stuff. Something like clients, users, and admins. Would be convenient for those that like the control panel thing.

Has been 4 years, so dunno if it will be useful but I used this one and it works perfectly. You can hide the sidebar for the user you want to:
