I set up automations for leaving my Home. The problem is, the HA app stops working then. I can still control HA with the browser then because I setup remote control (Remote UI)
Now, location tracking is bound to the HA app and doesnt work with browser instance.
So I suspect, there are ways to make remote control work with the app and not only in the browser? Is that what this port forwarding is about?
If you are using nabu casa and have the app installed then the app should work when outside your home environment and as such should report location updates.
Have you set the correct ip / link for external access within the HA app settings correct?
On your phone open the home assistant app and navigate to configuration / companion app / your instance (user) and check that the two internal and external url’s are set correctly.
Your external address should be set to the one given from nabu casa, assuming your using nabu casa ?
It might be easiest to just reset the app and go through onboarding again. The app is supposed to detect this correctly. There used to be some issues when Nabu Casa started, but at least in my experience it’s been working well. Keep in kind that there was a websocket bug that got fixed, so be sure to run the latest server and app versions (the app UI basically wouldn’t load, sometimes, although most background updates still happened, such as location updates; was only a frontend issue, IIRC).
Thank you @rossk ! I didnt know you you were supposed to set the external address as the nabu casa address. For most people it may be obvious, but not for me.
Could be mentioned on the nabu casa site…
Well, it works now. My location jumped to where i actually am now.
