How do you make a remote mic for Voice in HA?

I see people showing off a Raspberry pi 3, or an espHome device running something they are using to trigger wake word and voice commands for HomeAssistant seemingly remote from their main HA system. I presume also how the echo thing works, but can’t find any articles on how to set it up on my Raspberry PI 3s I have laying around.

I’m sure I’m just not searching the right terms, but if anyone can point me to something that would be great.

Install the latest rpi os then try this script.

I am trying it on an old rpi 1a just waiting for a USB microphone to arrive.
