How to add remote devices when HA is on an immovable server

What are my options for z wave device inclusion when the pc is immovable? I am moving from homeseer and far away devices included fine when added from nearest to server to farthest. However with HA I’m having trouble when more than a small distance away.
The devices are dimmers that can’t be moved.
I’m new to HA, so is there a setting to use the network for inclusion?

Thanks!

If yor device is ZWave plus. It already can use the network. If you have ZWave plus devices and join doesn’t work you are most likely out of range

ZWave devices that are hardwired to power repeat for the network. The spec (base pre 700 chips) says 100’ but I use 25-50’ (8-15m) between powered nodes because things that absorb RF is a thing

You CAN bring your stick to the node and pair but you need to IMMEDIATELY repair routes upon returning the stick else the node will be out of range and not communicate (because it is out of range)

That said unless it is a ZWave (not plus) device that requires whisper mode pairing (old locks and door openers) you’re better off adding repeaters until you have a decent signal and pair in place else e d device will eventually drop off and or be unreliable.

What are you adding and how far is it from the stick and your nearest powered repeating device?

Moving the Z-wave stick a bit away from the server with an USB extension cable can lower the RF noise and thereby improve the range a bit.
Alternatively you can invest in a Ethernet Z-wave stick and use that somewhere better in you use.
This just require a cable to your network.
I think there is also WiFi Z-wave sticks, but I would generally advice against 2 radio routers.

In my experience if you are adding a new device, NWI (Network Wide Inclusion) works fine with my 500 series controller.
