Same here. it works but sometimes, but mostly not. So much so that I’ve stopped calling nabu, only to have it react to voices on my tv from time to time.
With all the noise about “Year of the Voice” and my desire to start moving away from Google Assistants, I decided to order three Echo Atoms. It has been a challenge to say the least.
I am relatively well versed with ESPHome as I have been using ESP32s for over a year for BT Proxy and room presence. For this this application ESPHome works flawlessly.
For Voice detection and actions, very different story. Very buggy. I have tried several configurations. From barebones to all sorts of led light settings, binary sensors, switches, delay settings, etc. It simply sucks. Works OK for a while, until it doesn’t at all. I am very frustrated with the whole voice thing.
If anyone has a simple config that works, please share!
I am currently playing with the Glow ESP pulsemeter reading energy solution and am trying to get HA / ESPHome to ‘Adopt’ the new device(s, I’ve tried several ESP32’s) but with no luck.
Just to be sure I understand the goals correctly.
If HA sees a new (ESP) device it can generally add it so you get the device and it’s entities but it does not show up in the ESPHome system in a way you can then edit the .yaml.
OR, if you create a new node in ESPHome you start with the .yaml and then upload that to the device and then it appears in HA (and you already have the .yaml to be able to edit the node etc).
OR (question), you can ‘Adopt’ the device where it adds the .yaml as it discovers the device (because you have access to the .yaml via the installer, as with Glow etc)?
I have seen the ‘Adopt’ box come up a couple of times but can’t get it to come up now?
When I run the Glow installer it installs the Glow firmware ok and the device appears in HA and I can see the device / entities and access the device via it’s Web page etc, it’s just I can never get to see the .yaml (if that’s supposed to be how it works, if not I can’t see the difference between Add and Adopt?)
