I thought that I had zwave security configured prior to adding a number of devices. After reading a recent post and checking my zwcfg file for the “secured=true” entries, I realize it is not that way.
So, I have re-added the network_key entries and restarted HA (running v.83.3 on Hassio).
There is no reference to the network key in the home-assistant.log. How can I verify that HA is recognizing the network key when it initializes the network?
Also, is there a simple process to go through to get the capable nodes in secure mode without changing their device id / node number?
The OZW Log will contain this line at the top if the network key is set:
2018-12-11 00:47:45.382 Info, Setting Up Provided Network Key for Secure Communications
If you configured Z-Wave with the Integration, a network key was created for you already. If you configured Z-Wave with configuration.yaml without the network key, you will need to either delete the integration and re-install it, or modify the .storage/core.config_entries file and add it there. You can look at the file and see if the key is set or not.
You have to exclude non-secure nodes and secure include them again. That is the only way.
I only see the OZW_log.txt file if/when I run the OZWCP add-on, and to get it to recognize the key, I had to add it into the options.xml file. When HA is running, everything is logged into in the home-assistant.log file.
So, interestingly, I moved removed and re-added the first device. Afterwards, I looked at my zwave graph pane and notice that the secure devices are green.
