I searched all across the internet and this forum and couldn’t find an answer anywhere. There is no way to clear the cache from the macOS companion app. On iOS you have a specific option (companion settings) which doesn’t exist on macOS. The macOS app also uses its own rendering I believe (clearing caches from Safari or other browsers don’t work, I tried).
So: how on earth are we supposed to clear the frontend caches WITHOUT resorting to deleting the entire app with App Cleaner? I also looked in ~/Library/Caches on macOS folder, but there are no HA companion app folders anywhere. I need to clear the cache, so it can properly load the correct custom component after a downgrade.
i know i’m posting to a stale thread, but i’ll just point out that in the mac companion app version 2025.5 (2025.1264) there is no feedback or confirmation when clicking on “reset frontend cache”.
there’s kind of a delete-button icon that appears to the left of the text. i can click on the icon, i can click on the text and nothing happens (visually) - button doesn’t highlight or blink or anything. it really doesn’t behave like a button. it may be working perfectly behind the scenes. it may be doing nothing. it may be a bug. i can’t really tell.
in contrast, if i click either the “reset app entities database” or “reset app” button (just above/below the reset frontend cache button respectively), then i get an immediate “are you sure?” dialog.
