Might be pretty obvious to some, but where do I find the setting to clear the front end cache?
If you are using Chrome, press F12 and then long click the refresh button and you will see this :
Select the third option. Job done. You can then close the debug tab.
Hold on a minute : are we talking about browser cache here? Is that what “frontend cache” is referring to?
Yup, that’s what it is.
+20 years in IC design, and I just inadvertently asked on a forum how to clear my damn browser cache.
If it makes you feel any better (months later), I just googled how to, got here, and felt even dumber than you did …
Same here. I was thinking “frontend” as in a database Front End.
The instructions should of added clear web browser cache. I have been in the IT industry for close to 40 years and this is a common problem. I think Home Assistant needs to add quality assurance and usability people than can make sure not just programmers and high end techs but also newbies can use the products.
We’ve got fourty from Tim, who’s gonna give fifty?
OMG! I had to Google it too and I’ve been in IT for 20 years… This is the first time I see frontend cache for the browser cache…
I am using the iOS app and got this message… So I landed here now. Thanks
30 years IT for me and here we are lol…
just 18 Years for me, but i also only registered in this Forum to answer you
25 years, same story. sigh.
Totally agree. The further away a thing is from needing separate instructions, the better.
I got this message from the HA app (Android); I wasn’t even using a browser!
It’s a webview - so you technically are using a browser …
So how to do with mobiel app. mine icons not showing first time i have to go to other dashboard come back and it is ok?
I normally just kill the app and re-open it.
If it is the IOS App, you can follow these steps.
But if it is the Android App, until this gets solved, you can use these instructions. Logging out and logging in again also clears the WebView cache but normally one doesn’t want to do that.
