I’ve written to the manufacturer, who makes a wired speed control which works fine, and they say I need :
:
• single-phase 230v compatibility
• compatible with an AC motor
• functions by varying voltage (=phase dimming ?)
• at least 1.5A
• enables setting a stable minimal speed, which is necessary to not damage the motor
they also mention the following :
the inline x-silent ventilator does not have 0-10v and is not compatible with 0-10v or smart regulation.
speed control is performed only by varying voltage.
I’m not technically competent to make any devices, so I’m looking for hardware (or a hardware combination) that will work out of the box.
Trying to phase control an AC 230v motor is tricky.
A triac light dimmer and a shelly are very unlikely IMO to work here at all.
Strong recommendation to go with the mfgr’s suggestion or hire someone that knows motor controls because fire and overheating that motor or the controller are definite possibilities.
DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION
If your device connects to mains electricity (AC power) there is danger of electrocution if not installed properly. If you don’t know how to install it, please call an electrician.
Beware: certain countries prohibit installation without a licensed electrician present
Remember: SAFETY FIRST. It is not worth the risk to yourself, your family and your home if you don’t know exactly what you are doing. Never tinker or try to flash a device using the serial programming interface while it is connected to MAINS ELECTRICITY (AC power).
