How to copy files from the HASS (Oracle vbox) to Win

Hi, I thought this would be fairly simple operation, to get the tar files from the backup folder out of the vbox to my windows machine as I’d like to transition to other machine, but seems like I don’t know what to do : )

When I go to the vbox file manager, it’s disabled. it doesn’t list any folder and it’s all greyed out. So not sure why.

I’ve downloaded winscp for win, installed and tried to connect to the ip of my local HA with the default port, using my HA login credentials (or without them), it refuses to connect.

Not sure if there is a doco somewhere, but I’d appreciate some pointers here. Thank you!

Hello vajnorcan,

If you are using HAOS installation I would suggest the Samba add-on or an SSH add-on to transfer with one of the linux copy programs.

That has certainly helped. I can now connect from the win explorer via “map network drive”, however, I’m struggling on how to enable sharing of the “backup” folder which normally sits right next to config … not sure why config folder is accessible even : ) Thank you

after restarting the samba add-on again then the folder popped up. Not sure if that was the reason but I can now access the backup files! Thank you
