Evening, would someone please be kind enough to tell me how i could create custom buttons for the home assistant main screen, ideally im looking for only a few buttons for example:
CCTV ON
CCTV OFF
STATUS
If possible i would like the STATUS button to be either green when off and RED when on or something similar where possible.

Probably the best way would be with floorplan. You don’t need to create a whole floorplan of your house, you could just draw the buttons you want. And as it can live in a card on your main screen it sounds like it would achieve what you’re after.
Do a search on floorplan in “share your projects”; there is a very long thread about it with lots of detail.
it won’t give you your green/red but a template switch should provide the functionality.
