I am not aware of activating this function, but my Home Assistant tracks any mobile device in my house it can get. Along with collecting a vast amount of technical information about every device. Notabene, without asking the user. I find that a bit too intrusive, and I really don’t want to know where my housemates are at every moment. Nor do they want that I know it.
So my question: where can I disable that and get rid of all the collected stuff? Didn’t find anything about it in the configuration panels.
Go to privacy settings on your devices and turn off location sharing for the HA companion app.
Also in the app itself, Seetings → Companion app → Sensors.
The tracking is opted when installing the HA app so the user ‘implicitly’ accepts or rejects the location tracker. There are also ways to switch that off via automation (sending a message), the companion docs detail that…for Android (as usual) this is easier than for iPhony
Hello Roland, you mean mobile devices that use the HA Companion App?
In that case one can condigure the exposed sensors in the Companion App itself.
Go to:
HA App -> Settings -> Companion App -> Sensors -> Manage Sensors -> Geolocation Sensors -> Disable Geocoded Location
If that’s not what you meant, please provide further details.
Thank you! Mainly devices that use the Companion App but I also noticed an iPad in the list that does not have that app.
You can also go to Settings → Devices & Services in Home Assistant and disable entities and devices there.
Would it also be possible to make a button on a dashboard… ON do track… OFF don;t track
