I have created a few dashboards and do not use the default “overview” dashboard. I’ve changed the default dashboard on all of my devices but randomly it will change the default back to the overview dashboard. Is there anyway I can change the default dashboard to one of my own and/or permanently erase the overview dashboard so it will stop making itself the default?
Go to your profile (your username in lower left corner) → Dashboard.
And just below that you can edit what panels are shown.
Unfortunately as soon as the browser cache has been cleared, it is visible again.
Edit the default dashboard to be your main dashboard. This is as simple as copying and pasting all the raw config from one view to the other.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I was able to duplicate my customized dashboard into the default overview one, but I’d still prefer to get rid of it since there doesn’t seem to be a way to customize the name or icon and then I end up with two dashboards for the same thing. I guess I could try to get used to the “overview” one and then delete my customized version now that they are the same.
The other part of this issue is that I constantly have to “re-order” the items in the sidebar and hide things that I don’t want (for example on my desktop I may want all of the items but on my phone with smaller device, I choose to hide a lot of things I don’t need there to save space.)
I guess the question is why is this info being saved as a cookie which is getting cleared rather then being saved to my user account or even the Nabu Casa cloud where it could persist? Then I could set it once and never have to worry about resetting it again.
That’s frustrating because I’ve also set up other dashboards and do not use the default one. Both for customization reasons and permissions reasons. You can’t control who does and does not have access to it
yeah it is very frustrating.
for permission reason.
I can have three dashboards, 1 Admin for building staff or managers, only visible to admin people… great.
then
a dashboard for tenants all 200 of them, this dash is populated only with items they should have access to like gate switches etc,
then there is the overview dash, VISIBLE TO EVERYONE, and I dont mind Admin People to have access, but Is a Huge Pain that every tom dick and harry can see and interact with this dash.
a simple toggle overview dash to admin only would solve this issue, without the use of complicating steps, because Browser mod does not work for this, I can take away their header menu and side menu, but does not matter if i set their default dash, every time they log in they are back on the Overview Dash
PLEASE HELP
I came searching for the same thing. I wish to be able to disable the Overview “default” from non-admin users. I know I could go into settings and change it but the user can easily change it back if they start fiddling.
In a multi user setup the overview page seems a “security” issue (as in allowing any user access to all devices on the system, not as in network/hacking security). As Caretaker21 says, simply adding an option to make it admin only would instantly solve the issue. When setting up/editing a user there could be the option to specify a default dashboard.
I have been searching but I can’t find anyway to disable it permanently to non-admin users.
