How to do something if value drops over certain time

i have a flooded basement cause a pipe broke and the well pump pumped a 1000 gallons into basement.

i have a level sensor on our well storage tank, id like an automation sends me a message/rings a bell, or even lets the monkeys loose lol!! if tank level drops X gallons over Y time period. I’ve played around with it a little but i cant figure out the triggers and condition. the level sensor reads in gallons (ultrasonic distance). I’m kind of new to HA so far its great

i don’t see any thing remotely close to working numeric state is above or below for trigger( the tank could be anywhere from 500 to 1000 gallons and the time condition is who knows when its going to break. in other words I don’t even know where to start.

sorry, I’m going in 10 directions at once currently ill check back when i have a dry basement

that sounds like the perfect usage of a trend binary sensor:

from the example in the link:

This example creates two sensors to indicate whether the temperature is rising
or falling at a rate of at least 3 degrees an hour,
and collects samples over a two hour period:

binary_sensor:
  - platform: trend
    sensors:
      temp_rising:
        entity_id: sensor.outside_temperature
        sample_duration: 7200
        max_samples: 120
        min_gradient: 0.0008
        device_class: heat

create that sensor based your system and then use that as a trigger in the automation.
