I installed the latest version of HA but I see no assist in the menu bar.
Also tried adding assist as an integration in yaml, but it can not be found. Anyone have any idea on how to enable it?
Have you by any chance removed default_config from your configuration.yaml previously. if so you need to add the respective entry for assist

Oh, it’s called conversation. I thought it had to be something like “assist”. 
And - can one disable it?

You have to take control of your config in that case. That would mean that you have to disable the default setting and load everything you want manually by adding it in the config.
