I recently ordered an Athom smart plug from aliexpress. In the past they have always been preloaded with esphome but these are loaded with Tasmota which I have no experience with. I’m sure this is probably my mistake but now I’m trying to figure out how to flash them with esphome instead. Hopefully OTA. Would really appreciate some help.

I don’t know what version of Tasmota is being used by Athom.
I haven’t tried Tasmota, but doesn’t it show what version you are running in the Tasmota web interface?
I haven’t configured the plugs yet. Wanted to have some idea what I was doing first. Just noticed in the aliexpress listing that they can provide esphome firmware to install on the plugs if contacted so I’ll probably wait for their firmware. If they don’t get back to me I’ll go ahead with the esphome guide.

Athom’s firmware is on GitHub.
It will do no harm to start the plug and see what version of tasmota it runs.
Indeed it will do no harm to run tasmota instead of esphome.
