How to get more light options (combinations) from Ikea Styrbar light switch

Hi there.

I have just set up some now smart lights (four separate bulbs) in my kitchen - three in the ceiling and one above my cooker hood.

I can now set them all indecently at both different brightnesses and colours (they handle multiple shades of white).

I have a Syrbar light, which only has four buttons on it and I was wondering how best to use this for difference light combinations.

If I only wanted three, I could just setup three scenes and then have left right and on relate to these.

However, I wondered if I could do something a little bit more advanced that this:

  1. The on button always turns all the lights on, at full power, at the warmest yellow (call this “main scene”).

  2. The left and right buttons then cycle through a number of other set scenes and when you press left or right, having comes from the “main scene”, it goes to the last non main scene used.

Sorry if I have now explained that too well - let me know if not.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Sure. That is possible.
I would suggest a input select that keeps track of what the current scene is and then you move up or down the list depending on which button you press.
For simplicity a call service to set the next option in the list, then call service to get what the state is after the change, then a switch node to separate it to different call services that sets the scene.
Or if you want more complex, use the same scene name as in the input select and use this to call the correct scene with just one call service to set the scene.
