How to handle extra infos?

I have a lot of zwave devices that show me more info i normal need. For example a fibre power switch.

I get

  • power used at the moment
  • power used completely
  • vibration alaram active
  • switch on/off

Most time i only need the switch, but sometimes i also want to get the other infos. But how to show them hidden until i need them?

I come from openHab, there is a way to show the switch and if needed i can go a level down and show the rest. Similar to the popups here. Can i easy extend this popups maybe to show my infos there?

You can use customizations to hide or rename items.

But then the info is permanent hidden correct? I just want to hide it and show it with an extra switch or whatever.

Correct. It’s hidden permanently… I’m not aware of options to dynamically hide or display items in the UI.

You could use nested groups for this. Then when you want to see the details, click on the name in the list.

Search the forums for “nested groups” to see how this is done.

sounds great, i will check that after i could get my first automation to work, really frustrating when i check how i work on openhab before

Yeah, but that’s true of anything.

I recently ported from Vera. Took me a couple weeks to learn the ropes. This forum has a lot of good info in it.

I’m going to be honest, it didn’t work for me when I tried it back when the post was made, but I’ll give it another shot to test.
