Im just switching form Devolo Home control to Home Assistant and have issued to include the Devolo smoke detectors.
i removed the smoke device from Home Control
removed battery
put battery back in
Put into the mount
pressed the transparent button
… in some cases, not always the light turn yellow and it beeps seconds after that. Home Assistant always runs into a timeout. I think, the beep and turn off the yellow light should be the confirmation for of pairing, but the device does not hit Home Assistant.
Any ideas? The manual of the smoke detectory does not help at all, because there is nothing regarding inclusion mode. I took the steps from the wizard within Home Control.
Because the device is a Z-Wave Plus device you can find inclusion and exclusion information conveniently on the Z-Wave alliance product page. This is the official catalogue of all Z-Wave Certified Devices. Here’s what the manual says Product Network Management Instructions
Put the Z-Wave™ Interface Controller into “inclusion” mode, and following its instruction to add the MT:2651 to your controller. To get in the “inclusion” mode, the distance between detector and controller is suggested to be in one meter. Press the program switch of MT:2651 for 1 second at least to be included. After setting, the LED Setting Lighting should go off, if not, please try again. (Please refer to the user manual to understand the program switch location)
This description does not really help. Some of the smoke detectors had no problem, but some were not removable from the old system and was hard removed. These do not go into the inclusion mode.
These desciptions on the Z-Wave alliance have no value, since they do not reflect the real device. There is no “program switch” … the smoke detector has a test button. The only way i got the previously unassigned detectors to the new system was: remove battery, insert battery, press test button (yellow light followed by beep) and is was coupled. But with some of the detectors it does not work… i testet it multiple times. The manual has also no single hint about this topic.
The device has no reset…the only working way was tho 1st pair with the old devolo system, remove it from devolo and then i was able to add. Even devices which had no contact for a long time needed inclusion in devolo first. Now i was able to move them all.
