How to know if a backup or restore is running

While restoring a full snapshot, I’m reminded that there’s no progress indicator, and when the full snapshot is complete, none of the add-ons appear to exist…so I had to run a restore on the add-ons only, and even then, it’s taking a very long time to restore each snapshot.

During this process, I noticed that one of the add-ons needed to be updated, so I attempted to update it, and that’s when I was presented with this:

As far as I know, this is the only place I can see that a backup/restore process is running.

Is there another way to know this without “running into it” accidentally? A banner at the top of the UI would be helpful.

Wow I was so surprised that this is not done. so upon initiating a backup restore there is no way to see if it actually restored or not? On latest HA 2022.11.2?

I think the restore process is awful. You have no idea what’s going on, you have no idea if it worked and I just restored a complete backup to only get the “Create new User” screen again after it completed.

This is still an issue in Jan of 2024. Bringing this back up everywhere i can cause I’ve had to do like 2 re-installs in the past year and this needs DESPERATE work. Even just better documentation about whats expected, how the restore process works, and potentially how to do it manually would be a big improvement.
