How to make a "dumb" switch smart?

Hi,

I have a the old version of the Fibaro insterswitch 2*1.5 KW.
Today, I started looking into installing this module behind a “dumb” light switch.
So I looked up some examples on how to do this online:
https://en.robbshop.nl/switches/installing-z-wave-modules

The thing is that when I opened my switch, the situation is a bit different:

I have no idea where the yellow/green and blue cable come from, or go to.

Is there any way I can still install the zwave switch with my situation?

Thanks!

It may be a good point in time to call an electrician and ask for advise?!

It can definitely be done. I’m on my phone right now but can put together a sketch later. (Also: I think you mean “dumb” switch, not “dump” )

I was about to ask WTF is a dump switch, yes the word is “dumb”.

Wow, that was dump dumb

It would be great if you could help me out with a sketch!

I’ll try and knock one up when I finish work

I have put together a basic sketch but really it’s exactly the same as the proper Fibaro instructions (I’d advise to use those rather than a website with drawings that look like a child drew them).

A few MAJOR points to look at BEFORE you go any further:

  1. You need to work out which of the two brown wires that currently go to the switch has voltage on it when the switch is OFF. You will need a multimeter. That wire is the one that must be wired into the L terminal as shown on my drawing as having wire ‘Brown1’.
  2. You need to check if the black or blue wire is a neutral or not. Again, a multimeter is required to test for voltage between Brown1 and the black wire. If it is your normal full household voltage, all good, otherwise see if the blue wire is a neutral via the same method. This will determine if you should be putting either the black or brown wire into terminal N. DO NOT PUT BOTH WIRES IN THERE.

The above is based on the fact that I don’t know where in the world you are and what wire colours have been used for the neutral. I take no responsibility!

Thanks! I live in the Netherlands.
