How to publish Git repository to HACS?

I have a couple of custom components I’ve written and am testing and and some point I figure I might want to put them on HACS but am not sure what is needed for it to appear in the HACS catalog. I can see the various Git files that seem to be HACS specific, but do I need to register the component somewhere for HACS to know it’s out there?
