How to rename a switch - HA instructions dont work !?

Ive just installed HA, been playing with it for a few hours…

I set Configuration.yaml to discover my Orvibo switches - using the Orvibo Help Page
switch:

  • platform: orvibo

And I see these in the Switch card on the Home page of HA - as unnamed_switch and unnamed_switch 2

Obviously Id like to rename these (preferably via the Hassio front end. The Documentation here

Says there is a ‘cog icon’ - but there isn’t one.
How do I rename the switches so they’re understandable ? (I don’t want to group them…yet)

I think you need to read all of that page

Thanks for the thought. When pages have incorrect info on the I often stop at that part (why trust the rest of it when there’s an error, huh?)

Anyway I read it all, and it doesn’t help.
I ended up manually setting the friendly name on config (rather than Customize)… But even that does get to the heart of my problem : my switches seem to be recognised randomly as unnamed_x on upgrades on the HA system. So even friendly names end up being randomly assigned to each device.

What I really need is a way to configure them by giving a specific name for the (mac address or other unique I’d) of the switch (ip is no good as they’re DHCP)… Where can I find how to do that ?

Firstly: use your router to assign fixed IP addresses to each device based on MAC address. (good idea to keep a spreadsheet of these for future once your HA system gets big)

…then look at what issues remain
