How to Restore a HA Backup File on Docker

Hello

I am very new to Home Assistant and I installed it as a Docker container as part of IOTstack.

I had to rebuild my entire docker stack on a new SD card so I went to configuration in my old system and created a backup file. After reinstalling everything from scratch on the new SD, I am unable to determine how to use the HA backup file in order to restore HA.

I researched online but what I could gather, the options I have either to click on the restore link that appears during the first run of HA underneath the user creation form, or from Settings > System > Backups.

Both options do not appear for me although I have tried downloading and reinstalling HA container many times. There is no restore option underneath the user creation form. In Settings I can create new backups but I can’t restore them.

Would appreciate any help.

thanks

This is missing from the docker part…the documentation is not up-to-date
What you can do is unpack the backup file and copy to the right folder (config)

Thanks. that’s what I did at the end.

Looks like docker doesn’t get much love.

how are you able to unpack the backup file and extract the config?
I’m reading that the backup files are a encrypted in a tar.gz file and its not possible to unpack on a linux or OSX device.

Were you able to solve this? I keep reading /config is where you unpack the backup but how do I do that?

i had the same question?
i’m moving my ha on a raspberry pi 4 to a docker on nas synology.
But can not get the backup restored on there.
