How to restore from incremental/full backups?

Hi,
after the last update to HA 2025.1 there was a problem with one of the integrations (Luxtronik). So I decided to rollback to 2024.12.5 by just restoring from the last backup. I have to admit I’m relatively new to HA (using it since about 3 months).
However, what I didn’t realize was, that the last backup was just incremental. This completely wiped my HA setup. Now when I login to the HA Web interface, it says it has zero configuration and has to be configured :frowning:

So my question now is: do I really have to start from scratch with everything? I still have the backups saved externally. So is there a way how to reconstruct at best the state from the last incremental backup, if I have some full backup in the past and then some increments? I’d be really grateful for any hint on this.

Can someone point me maybe to some documentation on how to restore from incremental/full backups? I found posts of other users in the past who managed to wipe their HA by restoring from an incremental backup, so it seems to be not quite rare. However, I didn’t find anyone with any solution on that.

There are no “incremental” backups. Sounds like it was a core only “partial” backup. You need to restore a “full” backup. Do you have one of those available?

The file size should be larger than the partial backup, depending on what else is backed up (e.g. add-ons).

Also were these backups made using the 2025.1 core version?
