How to restore from Win32DiskImager Image

I created several backup images of the Hassbian micro-SD card.
I tried to use Etcher to write the .img file but I found that the micro-SD was read-only.
Windows diskpart fails to create partition primary.
PartionGuru claims to have deleted the two partitions on the card but if I refresh the partitions and files are still all there.
Used regedit to set StorageDevicePolicies to 0. No affect.

Any other ideas, other than buying another SD card?
Time to go Hass.io and use snapshots?

@GrahamS

Did you ever figure this out?

I bought another SD card but have not tried to write to it.
I went to hass.io. I am saving the snapshot tar files on my Windows PC for HA system backup.
The tar files are less than 30 MB in size so it is a disk space economical approach.
I have not tried, but my recovery plan would be to reload the hass.io starting image, copy a snapshot from PC to Raspberry PI using Notepad++ and restore from snapshot using the GUI.

Even so I would be interested in knowing if others were successful using etcher to recover from an Windows 10 generated img file.

I don’t use Etcher. I think I tried it once but seem to remember it not working.

I use Win32DiskImager to both make a backup of the SD card and write the backup to SD. Its pretty easy and straightforward.

Thanks,
It makes sense to write back the image using the same tool. ie Win32DiskImager
