How to resubscribe unresponsive Matter node?

Hi,

I’m running 2024.12.0 HAOS on an Intel NUC and using Matter Server 6.6.1 over WiFi to control approx 30 Govee M1 LED light strips. Pairing them with my Matter bridge is slow but I’m making good progress. Unfortunately, my light switches are not yet intelligent (parallel project) and the devices are frequently deprived of electricity.

I noticed that one of the light strip devices remained greyed out many hours after restoring power to it, when I selected it from my list of Matter-paired devices, while it remained visible and manageable in the Govee app. Attempts to resubscribe the device in the companion app fail systematically with the message “Unable to add Accessory”.

I determined that the Matter Server identified this device as “Node 2” so I tried to Interview the node in the Matter server Web UI, which did not work. I then deleted the node in the web UI and tried again. Same error - no progress.

The only error in the log relating to Node 2 is as follows:

[32m2024-12-06 19:30:42.762e[0m (MainThread) e[1;30mERRORe[0m e[34m[matter_server.server.client_handler]e[0m e[31m[140120291385056] Error while handling: interview_node (node 2): Failed to interview node 2e[0m

But I see this for other devices too which are switched off.
My log file complains repeatedly that the server is failing to parse mDNS queries although it also reports that it successfully discovers various nodes on mDNS.

I’d really appreciate if someone could help me figure out what steps I can take to fix this. I may be staring at the obvious but I just can’t see it.

I have IPV6 enabled on my router, and all devices are on the same LAN.

Fixed it, so will share the solution here.
It’s still not clear to me whether it’s best to delete a flaky node from the Matter add-on Web UI, or from the HA device profile (click on “Ping Device”, and you’ll see a Delete option). I had done the former and despite trying countless times, couldn’t pair the device with my HA Matter router again.

The fix was simple. Hard reset the Govee light strip and then add a new Matter device. Worked first time. Phew
