I’m not used to ask questions here so don’t hesitate to give feedback if i’m not at the right place.
I recently switched all my devices to LocalTuya.
The cover switch is working fine in Home Assistant itself ( i can control up/down/stop in the entity). But when i want to set it up in Node-Red to react to a remote it won’t do anything.
I have tried different settings and I can’t figure out how to set it up. It has worked before the cover lost support in the normal tuya integration.
First make sure you have the most current home assistant nodes. Go to the hamburger menu on the right choose manage palette, installed nodes, search home assistant, small button in the right corner.
Click it until it goes away i.e. you may need to click it more than once. There is also a check box option for output to debug.
Check it and see if you are getting an error, if not look in the nodered log on the addon page. Trigger the node and look right after, log only holds the last few minutes.
The debug node only gives the response of the remote click. There are no additional errors. Addon page doens’t give errors related to this.
In the mean time i have tried to make a automation in Home Assistant. This doesn’t work either.
What i’m thinking right now there is something wrong in the ‘message’ to send to the device. Because the Cover is working when I control it directly in the Devices page (or in the tuya app).
It looked like I had the cover configured right in LocalTuya. But it I didn’t check if the cover was actually moving. The commands in the configuration where set wrong and now everything is working like I want.
Do you mind sharing how you set up your covers with local Tuya? I’ve set them up as well but not everything is working as it should. when the cover is closed the status remains open in HA
I went to check the settings for you. I found out I got the same thing. Also i can’t push the ‘opening button’, probably of the state is ‘open’. I control my cover with remotes linked in Node-Red so i don’t have any problems controlling it.
LocalTuya had some big updates since the first time i started using it.
The states where before only opening, stop and closing. And i think you shouldn’t worry about (other) states. The device doesn’t actually know where the cover itself is. Then it should have more sensors or something but is hasn’t so it’s a pretty dumb-smart switch.
