How to Track Location Using the iOS App (Beta) [CLOSED]?

I just recently started using the iOS app (latest beta) with my HA instance (.79.3). In the app, all of the component/tracker/notify checkboxes are enabled, I have turned on every toggle on the Location Settings page, and I have double checked that my privacy settings for Location Services is ‘always on’. I am receiving regular notifications of location changes from HA on my phone.

What I cannot understand is how to access this presence information within my HA server instance. I do not have any device tracker entities for my iOS device - I only have the battery sensors.

Historically, I have used the Unifi tracker on my instance, but as part of my troubleshooting iOS, I disabled that tracker and deleted my known_devices.yaml. Still, I don’t see any reference to my phone/device on the server.

Am I misunderstanding how this is supposed to work, or am I encountering a bug? I assumed that my assigned Device ID on the phone would shown up as a device tracker on the server, but that does not appear to be the case.

Thank you for any help!

Find your phone in the known devices yaml file and make sure track: is set to true.

That’s my concern…the know devices file does not seem to be getting created when I am just using iOS as a tracker. It does get created when I enable the UniFi tracker.

do you have ios: in your configuration.yaml?

I do…and now it finally appears that the entry was created - a few hours after I set everything up, which is odd. But now it is there. Thank you to those who tried to help - if I can recreate whatever caused the delay, I will report back!
