How to turn off google chromecast with google TV from home assistant?

Hi all, I have a google chromecast with google TV (The pebble with the white remote) in my living room. I have activated the CEC on my TV so when I turn on/off the chromecast the TV turns on/off too.

My problem is that I can’t find a way to turn off the chromecast. I tried calling the Media player: Turn off service but it doesn’t work. I tried in the developer tools/services calling that service for the device and the entity but nothing works.

Any ideas on how to go with this one?

I’ve got the same question. I have the “Chromecast with Google TV” dongle connected to a computer screen.
I have automation’s that will power it on and display a CCTV camera but then there’s no way to power it off again.
The only way I have to do this is pressing the button on the remote

Same here, Turn On works, but Turn Off does not. Any solution?

Such a shame this can’t be controlled. Seems like hubitat doesn’t have this option either so I’m wondering if it’s a limitation of Google/Android tv?

So I just found the add on android tv remote and it works great. Turns chromecast with google tv off, on, back button, hike button… And some much more than I don’t need.

Im trying to use this to power off the TV so I can add it to the powermon integration. The power button in the androidTV app is not powering off the TV however.
The chromecast TV remote button does power it down however. Is this a config issue on my side, or something to do with this old TV ?

The TV is just too old I think - it works on infrared to power off/on, but if I change it to use CEC on chromecast, the TV stays on. It is 12 years old… But it does not really matter. The end solution works well. Powercalc set to 89.2 watts when TV is on, and 1.8w when TV is off (CCwGTV standby), and this is working fine as the TV gets power off and on by the remote by the child - so all good… Just got to repeat this in the other kids bedrooms - and another wall switch power monitor saved by this amazing powercalc integration…

I had an old Sony LCD in a spare bedroom and CEC devices will turn the TV on but not off. I think it may have been set up to only work with Sony gear. Since it was so old, I gave up on it and replaced it. Funny because it was $1900.00 when I bought it…and the replacement cost $190.00
