I currently have Home assistant Core 2024.8 installed.
I am thinking of updating it, however in the update section it shows me that i can update to version 2025.4.4
This is a way too big of a jump and i would like to take it easy one step at a time.
So i first want to update to 2024.9.x, then to 2024.10.x and so on until i reach current version.
See updating HA using the CLI (about 1/3 down the page)
The command line is HA core update and yih van target a specific version.
Thats said you’re probably ok to skip 2-3 at a time. Just read the release notes and understand the issues for each release. Just make sure you take a backup first so yih can easily rollback.
Thank you, i did read the docs, but i stopped at “Updating home assistant core” where it only showed CLI command “ha core update --backup” so i thought that was it.
But now that you mention, it must be there, and then i actually scrolled down even further and there was a section " RUNNING A SPECIFIC VERSION" which shows how to perform update to specific version.
I would have found this info if it were next to primary update info.

Another option is to start by making a full unencrypted backup and copy the tar file to a thumb drive. Then just install the latest version and restore.
